Were you thinking about putting your real estate in Lake Havasu on the market this spring? You’re not the only one. Then, the COVID-19 pandemic came from out of nowhere and changed everything. Parks and offices closed to the public. Schools started “distance learning”. The president and the mayor asked us to practice responsible social distancing to limit potential exposure to this deadly virus. Even the Havasu real estate market quickly changed their usual ways of conducting business in order to adjust to a “new normal”. If you find yourself stuck at home while on sabbatical from your “non-essential” job, here are a few home improvement projects you can tackle to prepare your property to sell after we flatten the curve.
Home improvement doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. Cleaning your baseboards sounds simple, right? But you’d be surprised how quickly dust and dirt build up here. And we do subject them to scrapes and scuffs. If they look particularly worse for wear, take a paintbrush and give them a fresh coat.
Speaking of cleaning, take out some soap and water and tackle those walls of your real estate in Lake Havasu. They might do well with a fresh coat of paint, too. Add some beautiful artwork of an outdoor European cafe or landscape. Make your rooms or entryway feel bigger and brighter with a few framed mirrors in different sizes.
Another inexpensive home improvement project to tackle while stuck at home is to do some serious deep cleaning. Want your listing to shine when you put it on the Havasu real estate market? Then make your kitchen shine right now. Scrub every surface of your counters, floors, and cabinets. Deep clean the oven. Move the refrigerator and clean the floor underneath. Vacuum the coils to remove dust and grime. Even empty out the cabinets and clean inside. Don’t forget underneath the sink and all windows as well. You’d be surprised how different a kitchen looks after something as simple as a nice, deep cleaning.
Finally, it’s easy to get used to the status quo. But one rule of home staging to sell your real estate in Lake Havasu is to rearrange the furniture. This home improvement project won’t cost you a dime. Do it one room at a time. First, take out every bit of furniture, artwork, and other item in the room. Then, clean it well from top to bottom. After that, try putting some (not all) of your furniture back in but in different places than they were before. You might want to look in other rooms in the house to see if something there would work better in a new space. Have fun. Play around with every item’s placement. Don’t overcrowd the space. Less is more. You want the room to look its best when it does go on the Havasu real estate market in a couple of months.
