Here in Lake Havasu, we absolutely love the outdoors. That includes the backyard area of our real estate in Lake Havasu. Outdoor living space draws in potential buyers. If you want to compete with other homes in your neighborhood when you decide to put it on the Havasu real estate market, you’re going to need to make sure both the inside and the outside of your property is ready for viewing.
Outdoor Living Space: Creating an Outdoor Kitchen
A grill is nice. But an entire outdoor kitchen is better. Unfortunately, they tend to get a little pricey. To get the most bang for your buck, keep these tips in mind.
Sales are Your Friend
The end of summer means more and more opportunities to purchase outdoor furniture, fire pits, and accessories at deeply discounted prices. Check out all of the sales at your big box and home improvement stores. Sometimes, second-hand works well, too, as long as it’s in good shape. Keep an eye out on Facebook marketplace for great deals.
Custom cabinets and high-end fixtures seem like they would bring in more money. But that’s not necessarily the case. Look at a pre-fabricated island or bar to help you save money while still looking nice. A simple, functional outdoor kitchen can be dressed up with accessories to wow buyers without breaking the bank.
While the “big box” stores tend to carry more building materials, grills, coolers, and other items for the outdoor kitchen at your real estate in Lake Havasu, look around at second-hand stores for possibilities as well. Hospice of Havasu Resale and even St. Vincent de Paul’s may have items for sale that would fit in perfectly in your outdoor living space at a fraction of the cost. And don’t skip on garage sales, either. You never know where you may happen upon a great deal.
DIY When Possible
Finally, whenever possible, do the work yourself. Keep the island close to your house so that you can save money by utilizing the electricity and water supplies that already exist. Otherwise, adding an electrical line or water to the outdoor kitchen of your real estate in Lake Havasu could bust your budget. Check out Pinterest and places like HGTV.com to get ideas about how to put together an outdoor kitchen on a budget. Then, when you put your house up for sale on the Lake Havasu real estate market, your outdoor living space will blow your buyers away as much as your inside living space.
